This cake looks spectacular when cut and tastes delicious.
For this recipe I used fresh walnuts that I brought back from resent holiday in France.
It takes a while to crack the nuts but I think it’s worth the trouble.
This is also great for using up any leftover nuts after Christmas too.
I have used Walnuts but any nuts can be used.
This cake tastes fantastic straight away and when still warm, however after a couple of days a lovely sticky layer forms on the top of the cake. As the cake matures each day the flavour and texture will improve, hard to believe but true!!
